Bit of background: on 22nd July, Ipswich Buses re-routed the number 6 bus, as they're running at a loss and need to save some money. Disappointing, definitely, and now they're getting even less money because it's too far away for people like me to catch it, any more. The route now goes... hnn, well, near my end of town, I suppose you could say? Just "588 metres" (thank you Google maps) further away - in other words, it's now about 1km to the closest usable bus-stop on my old route. Granted it would probably only take me about 10-15 minutes to walk it - it took me about 5 minutes to get to the old stop, which was about 400m away from my house, soo.
However, it only takes me 15 minutes to cycle ALL the way in. So suddenly, I'm not getting any significant benefit from the bus - I'll probably just use it if it's snowwy or something. So now, I cycle in to work and back, every day, come rain or shine.
I'm not feeling any healthier, and it's almost 5 weeks since I started. XD Just... tireder. And I don't think I'm getting any better at it - Bixley Road still makes me grumble, and it's not even a very big hill. :P
SO! I downloaded an app onto my phone so I can see if I'm improving!
Last night, I decided to test it on my way home. I got home all excited to see how long it had taken me, how "fast" (ha ha) I'd been going, just HOW BIG those hills really are ...
I didn't realise my phone was low on battery. It timed me for 45 seconds, most of which was me putting my backpack on, getting on Whites, and navigating around some pedestrians.
I never even made it out of the hospital grounds. *headdesk* 200m, at most. Probably not even that.
I'll try it again tonight! XD
(Why, when I logged into Runtastic to see how the "route" function worked, did it "find me" in the Marshall Islands, in Micronesia? Like, completely the opposite side of the world to where I actually AM. I think their GPS needs fixing.
Plus, I need an icon of Whites. HMM. *twiddles pencil*)
