-_- *sigh*

Call it losing impetus, running out of steam, even just something inane like falling prey to pageviews, whatever. Whatever you want to call it, I've got it.

Seriously. Don't think I'm going to get this story finished. -_-

It was far easier when I was just writing for myself, with just my own characters. I make the stupid mistake of reading other people's things, and even the Suey-est, most-ooc scmaltzy things get these glowing reviews, and I just wonder what I'm doing wrong?

Yeah yeah, I know, that old green eyed monster again. I'll just shut up :P

If you're talking about FanFiction.net, I will advise you to NOT take any review or whatever seriously on that site. It's like DeviantArt in a lot of ways, you can get asspats for the most banal things and if you try to critique something chances are the artist/writer will wig out.

I know that sounds horridly cynical and such but...well, I am horridly cynical. Especially when it comes to people on the Internet. That said, I also have my reasons because before I posted art online I posted fanfics to FanFiction.net. .__.;;; It was pretty bad even then in 2000.

Okay my ranting aside, you really should NOT compare your work to the OOC stuff and Sues...your stuff is way above those in standards and you know it. And I'm not trying to give you asspats; I've read your stuff, and I've read a lot of crapfic, and I'm sure a lot of the more people who are more knowledgeable about writing will tell you the same thing.

If you're running out of steam, take a break. But when you do get back into the groove, perhaps just go back to writing to yourself or posting on LJ. Bigger audiences means bigger idiots.

Although I'm trying really hard not to sound like I'm just making excuses (AND FAILING, drat), it's not just ff.net, it's some of the LJ communities I'm on as well. (To be honest, I don't actually read fanfiction at all any more, purely for this reason.) It's just that occasionally I break all my own rules and glance at other peoples' fanfiction - especially when it shows up on my FL because it's been posted to a community I'm on - and then go all "bawww" that they're getting into great big long conversations about their personal universe even though half the characters have accents that are excruciating to read, the other half are all OOC angsty or over-fluffy, and everyone's popping out Suebabies with everyone else. BAH. *hits self with rolled-up newspaper*

The internet makes people cynical, I think. I was nowhere near such a snark monster until I started to use it - but then maybe it's just because I'm that much older? OOOOLD.

...I guess it was just one of those late-night angst-fests I occasionally have. I don't think I'll ever be happy with anything, but then isn't that par for the course for writers? I apologise for inflicting it on you all. Thanks for your kind words, anyway, I really don't deserve it. ^_^ *hugs?*
