OK. So. First flight, it was dark. Kinda bumpy, too, and the descent wasn't too great.

Second flight, it was late evening and the sun was just starting to set. It was really grim and dull under the clouds, looked like drizzle was about to set in, that sort of thing. I was 90% ignoring the weather, because OMG TAKEOFF FUCK YEAH. (One of my colleagues hates it, she says it feels like you're going straight up, but I get a complete rush from it).

Darn right! Take off and landing are my favorite parts... It's like riding a very expensive roller coaster.

Sweet, glad you're enjoying the trip. I remember when I went to Belize and we flew from Seattle, Washington to Houston, Texas, the view out the window was amazing and I keep wishing for a book of aerial maps so I could tell where we were and what river/mountain range/city we were passing over.

I can't wait to see your pictures. :)

Straight up? Okay, it's been years since I've flown, but I only remember straight up from the helicopter flight. Plane was more forward and then suddenly ... a bit light and wobbly? ... anyway it felt rather good. (Even the helicopter's straight up takeoff wasn't sudden or scary. It was the times it suddenly changed directions during the flight that did it to me.)

Yep, the 'cloudescapes' up there are awesome. Unfortunately the pictures never come out quite as great, though.
